Abstract

This study addresses one of the most frequent mathematical challenges faced by researchers: determining a suitable function to represent the relationship between two variables, either based on measurements or complex calculations. Known as the "curve fitting problem," traditional methods involve interpolation or using the principle of least squares, which may lead to questionable results. The "Tchebysheff approximation" provides a superior alternative by minimizing the maximum possible error, despite involving more complex computations. However, with the advent of electronic computers, this complexity is no longer a barrier to achieving better accuracy. The study also relates this problem to solving over-determined systems of equations, which can be addressed using similar methods.تتناول هذه الدراسة واحدة من أكثر المشكلات الرياضية شيوعًا التي تواجه الباحثين، وهي تحديد الدالة المناسبة لتمثيل العلاقة بين متغيرين، سواء بناءً على قياسات أو حسابات معقدة. يُعرف هذا بـ"مشكلة تركيب المنحنيات". تُعالج المشكلة تقليديًا إما بالتقريب باستخدام طريقة النقاط المقاسة أو بتطبيق مبدأ المربعات الصغرى، ولكن هذا قد يؤدي إلى نتائج مشكوك فيها. تقدم طريقة "تشبيشيف" للتقريب بديلاً أفضل يعتمد على تقليل الخطأ الأقصى، رغم تعقيد الحسابات اللازمة. ومع توفر الحواسيب الإلكترونية، لم يعد هذا التعقيد عائقًا للحصول على نتائج أكثر دقة. كما ترتبط هذه المشكلة بمسألة حل الأنظمة المفرطة التحديد من المعادلات، التي يمكن معالجتها بطرق مماثلة.
