(199) التضخم فى مصر: بحث فى أسباب التضخم وتقييم مؤشراته وجدوى إستهدافه مع أسلوب مقترح بإتجاهاته Inflation in Egypt: A Research on the Causes of Inflation and an Evaluation of its Indicators, and Feasibility of its Targeting with a Proposed Method to Predict its Trends

Abstract

تبحث هذه الدراسة فى عدد من القضايا المتصلة بالتضخم بوجه عام، وبقاعدة السياسة النقدية المعروفة باستهداف التضخم بوجه خاص. وقد سعت الدراسة على وجه التحديد لإنجاز الأهداف التالية: مراجعة أسباب التضخم فى ضوء الكتابات النظرية والدراسات التطبيقية الحديثة، مع توجيه عناية خاصة لطبيعة العلاقة بين التضخم من جهة والنمو الاقتصادي والتشغيل من جهة أخرى. وفى ضوء هذه المراجعة ، تقدم الدراسة بعض الفروض الجديرة بالإختبار بالنسبة لمحددات التضخم وعلاقة المقايضة بين التضخم والنمو (أو التشغيل) فى مصر.

The purpose of this study is to investigate a number of issues related to inflation in general, and to inflation targeting in particular, through upgrading knowledge concerning the causes of inflation, and the relations between inflation, output growth and employment, to help in formulating some hypotheses regarding inflation determinants and the inflation- output or employment trade- off in Egypt. It also aims to examine the reasons of dissatisfaction with the main anchors for monetary policy which have eventually led to the adoption of inflation targeting in a growing number of countries. The study specified the prerequisites for successful operation of inflation targeting, and attempted to explore the chances of satisfying those prerequisites in Egypt and exploring alternative measures of inflation, and the best measure that could be used in context of inflation targeting. An attempt was made to assess the sensitivity of the CPI to changes in the weights of its components, and to verify the incidence of inflation across different expenditure brackets in Egypt.
