Abstract
This research addresses the multidimensional issue of the spread of drugs, shedding light on their devastating effects at three main levels: the individual, the family, and the Egyptian national economy. Firstly, it focuses on the impact of drugs on the individual, in terms of the medical and psychological aspects of addiction, including the definition and classification of drugs, their organic and psychological effects, and the concepts and causes of addiction. The research then moves on to analyze the repercussions on the family, by presenting the concept of the family, changes in the Egyptian family, and the analysis of the social and economic impacts on the addict's family. Finally, the research is concerned with the effects on the Egyptian national economy, where it analyzes the heavy economic burden of the drug phenomenon on the state, through quantitative analysis, estimating the cost of combating, and studying the economic and social feasibility. Overall, this study shows that the drug phenomenon is not just an individual security or health problem, but a comprehensive social and economic scourge. Therefore, confronting it requires an integrated plan that includes prevention, treatment, and enforcement, and this effort is a necessary investment in the state's human, social, and economic capital.
