Abstract

The study discusses the topic of international economic integration, highlighting the general trend towards the formation of new economic areas worldwide. It points out that this integration is evident in the capitalist world, showcasing two main formations in Western Europe: the European Common Market (ECM), established in 1958, which includes Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and West Germany, founded on the basis of the European Coal and Steel Community. It also mentions the European Free Trade Area (EFTA), which includes Austria, Denmark, Great Britain, Norway, Portugal, Sweden, and Switzerland, established in 1960. In contrast, the text refers to socialist Europe, where socialist countries are closely connected through the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (CMEA), founded in 1949 to coordinate economic activities and promote economic development.
