This study examines the concept of profit in capitalist and socialist economies amidst debates sparked by recent shifts in socialist policies, such as reducing central planning and increasing decentralization. The aim is to clarify the nature of profit in both systems, highlighting differences in its role, dimensions, and uses. The study explores whether profit is a new concept in socialism or has existed since its inception. It further analyzes the impact of these ideas on economic efficiency, high growth rates, and improved living standards while addressing theoretical and practical implications for both economic systems.
