dc.description.abstract | This study aimed to analyze the features of the national policy for urban development, with the aim of preparing a roadmap to promote local economic development, to achieve a qualitative leap in local development at the level of Cairo’s neighborhoods, integrated with the state’s sectoral plans, to accelerate the development process in order to improve the quality of life, in addition to evaluating the efforts made In the urban renewal of the city of Cairo; Using GIS and satellite image analysis; To study the rates and trends of urban growth in the city, which contributed to the preparation of a proposal for a roadmap to promote local economic development.This study reached several results, including: the importance of working with the national policy for urban development, as a major reference for institutional and legislative reform to direct investments towards achieving balanced development, and for urban planning to have a central component of a sustainable renewable model, to ensure sustainable urbanization and spatial quality, as the results of aerial image analysis showed. that the Egyptian reality; Emphasizes the fragility of the environmental sustainability of Egyptian cities in the face of natural hazards, as a result of unplanned urban expansion at the expense of agricultural lands, in addition to neglecting the legalization of emerging urban blocs, and a significant increase in the urban mass of Cairo by about 26.3%, during the period (1985-2021), which This led to an increase in the area of regional land uses in the city by 77.3%, which reflects the increase in the volume of projects implemented to accommodate activities and services, in addition to the population movement in all Cairo neighborhoods to dismantle slums and dilapidated urban areas, the study emphasized the importance of strengthening local economic development policies, moving towards the circular economy as an entry point for the development of the local economy. Especially since there are huge amounts of waste at the level of Cairo neighborhoods, which can be recycled, achieve economic and environmental gains, and complete the development of the city of Cairo to become a center for cultural radiation in Africa and the Middle East, which supports the city’s balanced development efforts, and increases its competitive capabilities at the regional and global levels, this study made several recommendations, including: the need to work on addressing the causes of the concentration of the capital and its strong attractiveness at the expense of cities and other urban communities, and working to gradually reduce this concentration by transferring uses and activities outside the city, and developing the legislative and institutional frameworks governing the system and management of urban and land management, to enhance the state’s ability to Preventing encroachment on lands available for development, the necessity of having various mechanisms to finance urban development, and speeding up the development of new legislation to manage the capital within the framework of reformulating the spatial scope of the capital, which contributes to highlighting the city’s cultural and heritage features and linking its isolated components to each other, and working to stimulate economic activities based on Local data and the circular economy, in addition to completing programs to eliminate slums, and control the various sources of environmental pollution. | |
