dc.description.abstract | he study follows the descriptive approach in studying the role of industrial clusters in developing the competitiveness of the furniture industry in Damietta governorate by identifying the problems facing the industrial clusters. The study views: - Economic and developmental concepts and theories related to industrial clusters, theories related to industrialization, the developmental framework governing industrial development in Egypt, and the legislative and institutional framework governing industrial clusters in Egypt. - The emergence and development of industrial clusters and the definition of them, as well as their types and standards and forms of relations within the clusters, and how they evolved, and their economic importance. - The most important programs and projects related to industrial clusters in the strategy of sustainable development and the policies supporting the strategy of industrial clusters in the furniture industry in Damietta city. This includes policies related to the regulatory environment and the business environment for small and medium enterprises, policies to assist in the rehabilitation of industrial clusters, and an evaluation of the furniture industry in Damietta city using the SWOT analysis. - International experiences in the field of industrial clusters, the lessons learned from them, which can be taken into account in the establishment of an integrated industrial cluster in the furniture industry, as well as the roles of supporting bodies, namely the government role, companies and supporting institutions. - The study found that there is no technological support for wooden furniture production companies. Experiences, international experiments have demonstrated the importance of industrial clusters and subcontracting between enterprises in order to raise their competitiveness. In addition, the international experiments have confirmed on the necessity of developing a long-term plan for industrial clusters to achieve their integration and interconnection with technical support through advisory services with increasing attention to the human component of the owners of workshops and factories. This is because of the impact of these elements on the effectiveness of industrial clusters, and the need to apply the thought of industrial clusters as one of the methods that can contribute to the development of the wooden furniture industry in Egypt particularly in the city of Damietta. | e.n |
