يلعب القطاع السياحى دورا هاما فى التنمية الاقتصادية والإجتماعية للدولة . لأنه يعد مصدرا للنقد الأجنبى للدولة وخلق فرص عمل مباشرة وغير مباشرة وسد العجز فى ميزان المدفوعات وزيادة الدخل القومى . بالإضافة الى دوره فى تنشيط الإستثمار وتطوير وتنمية المناطق السياحية الجديدة . وهذا يجعلنا نهتم بتنمية القطاع السياحى فى مصر والإهتمام بدراسة كافة جوانبها . وقد تطور مفهوم السياحة . ولم يعد نشاط مؤقتا يخضع للظروف والرغبات الطارئة ومن هنا جاء الإهتمام بدراسة اقتصاديات القطاع السياحى المصرى وإنعكاساتها على الاقتصاد القومى .
