The study explores the establishment and functions of the National Economic Development Council (N.E.D.C.) in Britain, created to address economic planning on a national scale. Proposed in 1961 by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Selwyn Lloyd, and officially formed in 1962, the N.E.D.C. aimed to coordinate economic growth by integrating public and private sectors. Early reluctance from the Trades Union Congress (T.U.C.) delayed its formation. The council's objectives and work are outlined in two key reports, "Growth of the United Kingdom Economy 1961-66" (1963) and "Conditions Favourable to Faster Growth" (1965). Unlike previous partial planning efforts by state departments, the N.E.D.C. represented a novel approach to economic policy formulation, aiming to unify public sector policies with private sector contributions for sustained national growth.en_US
dc.description.abstractالمستوى الوطني.
