Abstract

The Study discusses a new methodological tool used for projecting economic growth, known as the Macroeconomic Production Function (MPF), which is considered a pivotal part of aggregate growth models. These models are especially useful for long-term forecasts (10 to 15 years or more) due to the unsuitability of structural models for such extended periods. The MPF provides valuable information for long-term economic policy orientation, such as selecting effective alternatives and types of future growth. This information is essential for creating the material and organizational conditions for future economic development. The paper also addresses the experience gained from utilizing the MPF in modeling the growth process of the Czechoslovak economy, focusing on MPF construction, variable selection, parameter estimation issues, and the results achieved from numerous calculations.
