بعد انتهاء الحرب العالمية الثانية، توسع استخدام بحوث العمليات ليشمل مجالات الإدارة والصناعة، حيث أصبح أداة حيوية في تحسين اتخاذ القرار في المؤسسات الكبرى. أدى التطور التكنولوجي ونمو المشاريع الصناعية إلى تعقيد العمليات الإدارية، مما استوجب استخدام أساليب رياضية وعلمية لإدارة الموارد بكفاءة وتحسين الإنتاج. كما أن هناك أمثلة تاريخية على تطبيقات مبكرة لهذا المجال، مثل دراسة تحديد عدد الخطوط الهاتفية اللازمة لتقليل احتمالات الازدحام، مما يؤكد أهمية بحوث العمليات في حل المشكلات العملية في مختلف القطاعات.

After the end of the Second World War, the use of operation research expanded to the areas of governance and industry, becoming a vital tool in improving decision-making in major institutions. Technological development and the growth of industrial enterprises complicated administrative processes, necessitating the use of mathematical and scientific methods to manage resources efficiently and improve production. There are also historical examples of early applications, such as the study of the number of telephone lines needed to reduce congestion, which underscores the importance of process research in solving practical problems in different sectors.
